For many schools, the sum-total of their leadership culture is contained in the senior year group, and for a great number who find themselves in this situation, it is truthfully only embodied in the elected (or appointed) student leadership team. Most schools would agree that this description is as accurate as it is undesirable – but the question is: How can it be changed? How can a leadership culture be intentionally developed at school to extend these qualities and characteristics across all ages and year levels?
This resource is an attempt to answer that question. It offers a staged approach to the creation and development of leadership culture, while at the same time leaving plenty of room for the progression to be tailored to suit the developmental level and experience of your own students. ‘The levels of student leadership’ model progresses from the student as part of the general cohort through to their contribution as a senior leader of the school.
There are numerous information sheets, videos, stories and a full implementation plan included in this resource to ensure that you have everything you need to nurture a culture of leadership across all year levels at your school.
